4th Generation

4th Generation

In 2006, Mitsubishi took the Pajero/Montero to the 4th generation in an effort to further perfect the marque in all areas while remaining true to the original development philosophy. However, this was a new kind of evolution that did not follow the previous pattern of typical new solutions of the sort that made news. This was evolution toward maturity through numerous processes. For example, the refinement of basic performance started from attention to small areas, incluiding 54 spot welding additions to dramatically increase body rigidity. The drive quality that from all these refinements elevates your everyday driving to an experience that feels absolutely new.

3rd Generation 1999-2005

The pajero/Montero, wich had already eliminated the on-road and off-road boundary, travesed the evolutionary road to its 3rd generation iteration in 1999. The aim was to distinctly improve the drive quality. From the perspective of thoroughly understanding the vehicle´s own kinematic performance, Mitsubishi reviewed the marque, starting from body structure, and came up with a monocoque body whit built-in ladder frame chassis. Offering both high rigidity and light weight, the new generation Pajero/Montero achieved a low center-of-gravity body balance while maintaining good road clearnace. It also featured a 4-wheel independent suspension that gave each wheel a secure grip on the road surface. With the 3rd generation, Mitsubishi unleashed the marque´s full potential from the fundamentals up and achieved a dramatic leap forward in its kinetic performance.

2nd Generation

2nd Generation

In 1991, nine years after the pajero/Montero first appeared, Mitsubishi introduced a long-awaited full model change upgrade to the 2nd generation. this marked an evolution based on the liberal use of new technologies designed to bring the philosophy inherent in the pajero/Montero one step closer to reality. One change was the development of the new seuper select 4WD featuring a VCU center differential. While further lifting off-road drive capability, the Super Select system distinctly improved on-road drivablity and created new 4WD value based on all-round enjoyment.
Along whit four distinctly individual body types, the pajero/Montero offered all-round driving pleasure to all types of users and allowed them to get maximun out of their vehicle.

1st Generation

1st Generation 1982-1990

The pajero/montero debuted in 1982 as a new multi-purpose vehicle. This was a completely new genre 4WD that distinguished itself from the military-style Spartan 4WDs of its time. Unlike the 4WDs of the early 80´s, wich sacrificed confort for the ability to the last the course, Mitsubishi developed a 4WD that offered good handling and a confotable ride so that any driver could enjoy outstanding drive performance that look rough roads in stride. The pajero/Montero´s development phisolopy was also seen in the generous introduction of numbers os amenable features that surpass those of many passenger cars. The early use of a rear coil suspension instead of leaf springs - usual for rear suspensions at the time - is a reflection of this philosophy.
